A Message From International President Steven Haro
About AFSA

Founded in 1961 by four U.S. Air Force non-commissioned officers, the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) was created to ensure the voice of enlisted Airmen and their families is heard at the highest levels of government and military leadership.

For more than 60 years, AFSA has stood as a trusted advocate—fighting to protect and improve the hard-earned benefits of enlisted personnel, veterans, and their families. Our vision is clear: to be the premier professional military and veteran service organization of choice for the enlisted corps and their families.

As a federally chartered Veterans’ Service Organization, AFSA is recognized by Congress to represent military members on Capitol Hill. Unlike many associations, AFSA has the authority and access to lobby directly, providing face-to-face representation with congressional leaders, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Who We Are:

  • A global network with 7 Divisions and 125 Chapters worldwide

  • Governed by a 14-member Executive Council, including elected leaders and advisers who represent every facet of enlisted life—active duty, Guard, Reserve, retired, veterans, and families

  • Headquartered in Suitland, Maryland, with a strong presence in communities across the globe

What We Do:

  • Advocate for fair pay, healthcare, housing, and quality-of-life programs

  • Provide professional development, education, and leadership opportunities

  • Strengthen community involvement and foster lifelong camaraderie among enlisted members

With AFSA, your voice doesn’t just reach Washington—it carries weight, drives change, and protects the future of every Service Member and their family.
